Pick Your Team
The first common mistake that most home buyers make is searching for houses before picking their team. When they ask for more information about a home they see online, buyers are contacted by a few different agents. Then the buyers decide which of those agents they want to help them.
What’s wrong with that?
The problem is, most buyers don’t research the agents’ customer reviews, qualifications, or experience. Chances are, these agents are contacting you because they’re paying the website for buyer leads in your zip code. They aren’t pre-screened by the website to ensure that they’re the best fit for your needs.
If you’re trusting someone to help you make one of the most important financial decisions of your life, don’t you want to make sure that he/she is knowledgeable, experienced, and trustworthy?
That’s why I recommend picking an agent before you pick a house. The same goes for lenders and home inspectors. You need to do your homework to make sure you have a great team working on your behalf.
If you need some help getting started, I can refer you to a few of my favorite lenders and home inspectors.
